LeydenJar Technologies is scaling rapidly and while doing so we are looking for a System Engineer - Vacuum Equipment to join us in our mission to boost battery technology; preferable start date 1st January 2024.


About the job
LeydenJar Technologies is developing a Li-ion (and solid state) battery solution. As LeydenJar's technologies are unique in the industry - 100% silicon film deposited on Cu substrate with PECVD deposition method - the success of our story significantly depends on thorough understanding of material properties of LeydenJar's silicon Anode. Also teaming up with our PECVD and battery specialists, is essential to design the best performing products for specific applications so that LeydenJar's technologies can serve the world in as broad fields as possible.

As a System Engineer - Vacuum Equipment, you will be a central point of vacuum expertise in a context of development of an innovative plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) equipment. You will work as a part of our equipment design team and will closely interact with system architect, system engineers, software engineers, scientists, mechanical designers, production staff, but also engineering partners. You will be working in a dynamic scale-up environment as part of an international, ambitious and diverse team that is determined to make a better world with cleaner energy. You will be based at LeydenJar’s office in Eindhoven.


You will be responsible for:

  • Development of a novel PECVD equipment as a system engineer, bringing vacuum expertise into the development team;
  • System and concept design of vacuum related sub-system of the equipment;
  • Working with System Architect, translating stakeholder's wishes into design specifications and requirements, helping him managing sub-system interactions
  • Guiding vacuum design related work of external engineering companies
  • Keeping all necessary documentation in place and up to date;
  • Supporting improvements and upgrades of existing equipment from the vacuum point of view.

Furthermore, you will assist with:

  • Ensuring high quality of engineering and design work;
  • Reviewing and challenging system design in relation to vacuum competence.
  • Spreading your expertise amongst your colleagues.

Job requirements

About you:

  • Master or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, process engineering or similar
  • 5+ years of working experience designing, testing and working with vacuum systems, preferably PECVD systems;
  • 10+ years of experience in high-tech equipment development;
  • Experience managing suppliers and engineering partners is a must
  • Proficiency in a 3D CAD is preferred;
  • Innovative mindset, analytical skills and solution oriented;
  • Reputation of somebody who can make things happen.

Furthermore, you are:

  • Punctual, quality focused, self-propelling and decisive;
  • Not easy overwhelmed by complexity and able to navigate through design risks and uncertainties;
  • An efficient communicator in English, and preferably in Dutch;
  • You understand that working in a scale-up means working in an environment where many things happen and where plans change;
  • You have a high level of integrity and ethics;
  • You find it easy to listen and talk to people and bring a smile to work.
