Job description

Do you want to contribute to a more sustainable world? Are you excited to deploy computational chemistry and materials science to help shape the future of battery technology and consequently the future of consumer electronics and mobility?

About LeydenJar
LeydenJar aims to become the world’s innovation leader in advanced battery anodes to energize batteries for human progress. High energy density of battery cells is an urgent and unmet need for a wide range of industries from consumer electronics to electric vehicles. By addressing the bottleneck of the battery anode, LeydenJar can improve this by 50-70% in an industry that can only improve 3% per year. Our pure silicon anode is regarded as the holy grail to achieve this in the battery industry. Progress is not only about enabling new products, it also means a more sustainable supply chain, resilience and access to battery technology in geopolitical context and enabling electrification.

Your mission

As an application engineer, your main task is working with clients to integrate pure silicon anode foils into real-world battery systems. You will face clients on a daily basis and guide them through, e.g., battery proof of concept projects and joint development projects.

Work in this sense ranges from translating client desires into battery specs to working with LeydenJar's lab, R&D, and production teams to meet these requirements, working with third-party battery cell manufacturers, and supporting the business development team with technical input. You will draft test plans, qualify novel battery materials, build up production infrastructure, build battery cells, etc. As you grow in the job, you can rapidly take ownership of technical projects with increasingly big scopes.

Your responsibilities:

Product Understanding:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's products, including their features, functionalities, and technical specifications.

  • Stay updated on product updates, enhancements, and new releases.

Customer Support:

  • Provide technical assistance to customers, including troubleshooting product issues, answering inquiries, and resolving problems promptly.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers, addressing their concerns and ensuring their satisfaction.

  • Support in R&D projects.

Pre-sales Support:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical guidance during pre-sales.

  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase product capabilities and address customer needs.

Solution Design:

  • Work closely with customers to understand their specific use cases and requirements.

  • Design customized solutions using the company's products to meet the needs of individual customers.

Product Testing and Validation:

  • Participate in product testing and validation activities to ensure product quality and reliability.

  • Provide feedback to the product development team on product performance and usability.

Documentation and Training:

  • Develop technical documentation, user guides, and training materials to assist customers in using the company's products effectively.

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for customers to educate them on product features and best practices.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify product improvement and enhancement opportunities based on customer feedback and market trends.

  • Work with the product development team to prioritize and implement product enhancements.

Job requirements

About you:

  • You are highly passionate about both deep tech and clean tech and you want to make your mark on a fast growing scale-up company.

  • You have an Msc. or PhD degree in physics, chemistry or materials science with demonstrable affinity with electrochemistry (required) or li-ion batteries (preferred).

  • You have 0-5 years of working experience.

  • You will have a key role in the process of getting our anodes into real-world applications. This is not an R&D role - we need a hands-on 'getting things done' mindset. you will set clear product specs in conjunction with our R&D and production teams and you will translate these specs into concise customer communications.

  • You will be the 'technical conscience' of our client integration projects. As such, you're energized by frequent and deep client contacts.

    Key competences :

  • You're a team player with excellent people skills and a strongly analytical approach to problem solving. Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances is key.

  • You have an eye for detail and strive for excellence in everything you do - ranging from drafting a test plan for our lab team or a presentation for our clients.

  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

  • Proficiency in programming languages, software tools, and operating systems relevant to the company products
