We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Controller (climate tech) to join our team and drive financial excellence within our organization. The Business Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of our battery company, ensuring strategic alignment and sustainable growth.

About LeydenJar

LeydenJar is a high-tech company, developing pure silicone anodes for a lithium-ion battery that will change the world. We are proud that, here at LeydenJar, we:

  • boost Li-ion battery energy density by 70% by using 10x thinner anodes
  • improved cycle life to >450
  • achieved fast charging to 60% in under 10 min!

We are currently still in an R&D phase, but we are ready to start the actual production of anode foil. LeydenJar Plant One will open in 2026.

Your Mission 
As a Business Controller you will support the business with your analytical skillset and proactive approach.


You will be responsible for:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Develop and execute financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
    • Analyze financial performance metrics and industry trends to provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making and the participation of lead finance projects. 
    • Collaborate with senior management to set financial objectives and develop strategies to achieve them.
  2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. For instance, ESG reporting
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
    • Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to facilitate the audit process.
  3. Cost Management and Control:
    • Monitor and analyze costs, expenses, and revenue streams to identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
    • Implement cost control measures and monitor adherence to budgets and financial targets.
    • Project , Grand and subsidy control.
  4. Risk Management:
    • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the financial stability and resilience of the company.
    • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
    • Stay abreast of industry regulations and market developments that may impact the company's financial performance.
  5. Business Partnering:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, HR, and research and development, to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership team, providing actionable financial analysis and recommendations to drive business growth.
    • Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders and contribute to cross-functional projects.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies within the finance function.
    • Identify opportunities for automation and optimization of financial processes and systems.
    • Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in financial management and implement relevant practices within the organization

Job requirements

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management,
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • You have a strong eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills required
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
  • A great team player and always willingly to learn
  • Fluency in English and Dutch verbally as well as in writing.
